There are a few reasons why this can happen.  Either it's a bad torrent, or more likely your media player doesn't have the correct codec to decipher the audio stream, therefore the audio will not play.  There are several good media players (e.g. VLC media player is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player) that can play most video and audio formats.
